business trip to

Kašperské Hory

kasperske_1.jpgThis friendly little town came into existence when in the 14th century large quantities of gold ore were found in the vicinity. On the road from Vimperk to the old mountain town of Kašperské Hory you pass the ruins of the 14th century castle of Kašperk, once build on the border with Bavaria.

The town itself originates also from the 14th century when in this region were found large quantities of gold ore and gold diggers were drawn to the area by the prospect of a fortune. Kašperské Hory became an industrial center of gold mining and nowadays the beautiful buildings on the central square are the reminders of that era.

At the square you will find the beautiful restored city hall and in the middle of the square the view is dominated by the Church of St. Nicolas.

The town also has a fascinating museum about the Šumava region. In the museum you will find, except all the information about the flora and fauna of the Bohemian Forest, also an extensive collection of maps suitable for hiking and biking.

Kašperské Hory is in both summer and winter a very good holiday resort. During the winter you can ski. There are 3 lifts to descents for the beginning and the advanced skier. Thanks to the small scale of the ski resort Kašperské Hory is very suitable for a family holiday.

Kašperské Hory is the place of many novels and stories, written by famour writer Karel Klostermann (1848 – 1923).

During summer Kašperské Hory is a good starting point for various day trips in the vicinity of the town.
