Castle and Galery Klenová
Just 6 kilometers north of Nyrsko
heading for Klatovy
you can find castle Klenová.
From the original medieval castle only ruins are left. In the 17th century a new Renaissance castle was build on top of the old ruins.
This castle also became deteriorated during the ages. In later times another castle, this time in Neo-Gothic style was again build on top of the other ones.
The castle nowadays acts as an art galerie which is managed by 'Galerie Klatovy/Klenová'. You will find, through the year, a variety of different art exhibitions. There is a permanent collection of modern and classical Czech art.
The ruins of the castle can also be visited. The ruins are used as the stage setting of the open air exhibition of sculptures. This gives a surprising breathtaking result because of the contrast between the old remnants of the medieval castle and the modern sculptures.
During the first week of July medieval festivities are held in the castle.
This castle is certainly worth a visit. See it on the map
